Playtest & Feedback log
Purple Ball Guy » Devlog
- The first playtest of the game was done after level 1&2 was completed. 2 friends in Nicky's discord server joined the playtest, and a few other people watched the game play. Here are their suggestions:
- Make a tutorial level and leave the enemies visible there;
- Draw out the enemies' sightlines for the player;
- Disconnect the enemies' alarm systems, so the player can kill them one by one;
- Slow down the bullet speed.
- All of the suggestions above made it into the final version of the game (or at least partially).
- The second playtest happened before our presentation. About 5 of our classmates gave constructive criticism after playing the game:
- The 4th stage's hidden enemies are amazing;
- The scoring system is unecessary;
- Lacks explaination of the detailed mechanics of attacks;
- The vent doors should be both seeable before player's teleportation;
- Make the dummy more interactive;
- Decrease the difficulty of level 5.
- All of the suggestions above were taken into consideration of our future development plans.
- The third playtest was done after the presentation. About 5 of Nicky's friends joined the playtest, some of which have very little experience in platformer games. The following suggestions were received:
- Decrease the overall difficulty;
- Add plots and context;
- Show the enemy's direction when they are not on the camera;
- Debug on the ability, including stuns;
- Decrease the time it takes for an enemy to die after being stabbed.
- The suggestions above will be considered in future development.
